The only blog about animals (taxidermied), ice cream, illustrations, creepiness, Oprah Winfrey, and Mary-Kate Olsen. I have a pretty broad spectrum of interests, but there are very specific themes that string together what appeals to me, creatively. Real things that look fake. Fake things that look real. Real fake things. Fake real things. Whimsy.
Oprah Winfrey said the first students to graduate from her academy for underprivileged South African girls were “free to soar,” during a graduation speech Saturday.
I was supposed to go to the Academy of Sciences today with my unemployed friend Antoine because it was their free admission day. Apparently San Francisco has a 90% unemployment rate and we all decided to take advantage of this offer. I drove around for a good 25 minutes looking for a parking spot, and even their parking garages were full. I swung by the front of the actual Academy of Sciences building and saw a line of a few hundred people and a few thousand more baby strollers. And here came my “Oh Hell No” moment — very similar to Oprah’s “Aha” moments. Once I reach the “oh hell no” there’s no turning back, and that’s when i drove my ass home. Good news is my car started up fine and i gave it another aimless drive. Oh don’t worry about Antoine, he was meeting someone else there.
